Interview with Xcite author – Victoria Blisse
What is the title of your latest book with Xcite? Wild Rendezvous
When and why did you first start writing erotica?
I started writing Erotica around twelve years ago and it’s all my husband’s fault! I had a dream, it was a very sexy dream and it just wouldn’t leave me alone so my husband told me to write it down. I did do, he thought it was good and said I should publish it online for other people to enjoy. I liked the sound of that so I did it and enjoyed the feedback so much I just kept writing and now I’m a multi-published award winning author with best sellers under my belt!
Where do you find your inspiration for your stories?
Everywhere! I’ve found inspiration in films, in random sentences, in shop signs even. I get alot of my story ideas on forms of public transport. I can’t read because I get travel sick so I day dream and those turn into stories.
Do you write in other genres? If so – what are is your most popular or latest book?
I write in all kinds of genres! Paranormal (I’ve got a werewolf, some vampires and a Djinn to my name) Bollywood and menage. I always keep to my curvy characters though as they truly inspire me. My Most popular series in the Getting Together Series which starts with Getting Physical (Getting Together). It’s a great story about 2 opposites attracting. John and Terri both have hang ups about their bodies and they have to overcome them to stay together.
Do you have any other jobs as well as writing?
Well, where do I start? I’m a cleaner, I’m a seamstress, I’m a secretary, I’m a cook, a nurse, and a counsellor. Yes, I’m a wife, a mother, a Church council member and a governor. None of them might class as official jobs but believe me, they keep me busy!
How do your friends and family feel about you writing erotica?
My friends and family are incredibly supportive. I don’t think any of my family members have read my work though I do know my mother in law and her sister own some of my works! My husband reads it though, he helps me edit all my books in fact. And I am very lucky to have met lots of fellow erotica authors who’ve become really good friends. It’s so good to be able to talk sex writing with people who know the pitfalls and the highs of the job.
How do you enjoy reading erotica? Are you a paperback, ebook or audio book lover?
You know, I’ll take it however I can get it. Ooo er. I got a lovely, shiny kindle for Christmas which makes reading ebooks all the better. I’ve been reading sexy stories on my computer for a decade or more so it’s nothing new to me. I also have a good selection of erotica paperbacks too, I’ll take it either way. I’ve not really experienced audio book yet, I must try it out properly!
Xcite Books have launched a new awards program this year. Do you think this was a good idea? Why?
It’s a great idea. It’s good to reward people for excellence and I’m not just sating that because I’ve been nominated, honest!
Ebooks have made a big impact in the last few years and it has now become very easy for authors to self-publish. Why do you prefer to be published by Xcite Books?
I love being published by Xcite because I know they will polish my story up so it’s perfect for public consumption. I’m a good writer but my spelling and grammar leaves something to be desired! I also know there’s a great team of people working really hard to help me sell books and I like that. They’re a good bunch and I really appreciate all they do to make me successful.
How much has the internet helped you reach your readers? Do you enjoy social networking? How can people find you on Facebook and Twitter etc?
I love social networking, I chat a lot and love to tell the world about what’s going on with me. So you can find me all over the net! If you could have a fantasy dream date who would it be with and what would you do together?
Now now, I can’t possibly tell…though it might form the meat of a story or two in future. ;) Ah, the things I’d like to do with John Simm and David Tennant…rowr!
Where is the most unusual place you have had sex?
Oh, I think that’s probably on a train…that’s pretty unusual.

Where is your dream holiday destination? Have you been there yet?
I love Scarborough. I’ve been every year (give or taken) since I was four and I don’t feel like I’ve had a proper break ’til I’ve been there. It’s a brilliant seaside town on the east coast of Britain in the county of Yorkshire. It’s my second home.
In what television show would you most like to be a cast member? Why?
What is your favourite food or recipe?
I love to bake and so I’ve always got a recipe up my sleeve somewhere. I got a hairy Biker’s cookbook for Christmas that’s proving to contain some tasty gems. My favourite dessert is cheesecake though pavalova is a close second!
